Wadena volunteers are determined to help all local children participate in organized sports.
For the past several years, the subject has been bounced around the town’s recreation department and is aimed at being a local version of the national KidsSport™program.
Attempts were made to set up a local chapter of the national program, but when government funding clawbacks and regulations proved to be a challenge, the group decided to just start a local program where control of local funds raised remains at the local level.
This coming Sunday will be the inaugural fundraiser, a family golf tournament including supper and glow golf at dark.
The fun begins with 3:30 p.m. registration at Wadena Golf Course for family golf at $10 per person, followed by supper starting at 6:30 ($10 for smokie supper or $25 for steak supper). An auction is planned for 8 p.m., with glow golf to tee off at 9:30 p.m. (or dark). Glow golf is $25 per person and includes glow golf equipment.
Signup sheets are at the Town Office.
All proceeds to Wadena Sports for Kids.
