The Moe-Concordia Lutheran Church held its annual Spirit of Spring Supper at the Margo Village Hall on May 1.
Rick Blenner-Hassett was the emcee for a night when you were never quite sure what would happen next. The stage show was a father-daughter team of magicians, Chester McBain and Jacene. They awed the crowd with feats of illusion and apparent mind-reading, with a comic delivery assisted by audience member Tim Sowa. Other brave souls lent a hand or mounted the steps to the stage when called upon; good-natured participation from those on the floor added plenty to the guffaw portion of the act.
McBain has had been doing magic tricks since he was seven years old, and brought out his very first trick. Jacene, growing up around illusion and entertaining, wowed everyone with some memory tricks along with mentalism.
The act finished with McBain displaying the balloon trick with oversize props. To get a card out of the balloon, he had to go right inside it!
Many laughs made for an evening of fun for all.
