Event raises big bucks for Telemiracle

February 20, 2015 by wadena-admin

The Wadena Kin Club held its annual fundraiser for Telemiracle on Feb. 7, with a premium beer and liquor sampling night complete with laughs provided by Saskatchewan comedian Kelly Taylor of Prince Albert. The hall filled as the show approached, with the Kin Club members adding more tables as they were needed. Hors d’oeuvres and desserts were available along with a cash bar, and the bucket draws saw a lot of action.

Taylor was highly entertaining, his material ranging from sports to camping to children, all with a Saskatchewan flavour.

The sampling followed, and a basket donated by CNS Mechanical was raffled off, raising $970. The live auction came next, with Jim Peszko of Peszko Auctions taking the stage. The auction raised more than $5500, with the big ticket item — a laptop donated by E&K Trophy — going for $475. The next-highest bid item was a set of hockey cards donated by Orval Ziola.

The evening brought in about $8000 to go to Telemiracle 39, coming up at the end of this month.
