It has come as no surprise as the recent forecast of a spring storm is now making its way through the Prairies dropping 6 cm upward to 20 cm of snow predicted along with high winds.
As a result Saskatchewan RCMP are advising motorists to check the highway conditions before travelling as they are rapidly changing throughout the province as it moves east.
Wadena is currently 0C with winds gusting to 39 km/h and according to the Highway Hotline, area roads are still in the black. The same cannot be said for our western provincial neighbours as most highways past Saskatoon are now closed.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination; let someone know your plans before travelling; have an emergency kit and a fully-charged cell phone on hand; and ensure your vehicle’s gas tank is full. And if you must travel, make sure to regularly check the forecast and consult the Highway Hotline prior to travelling: https://hotline.gov.sk.ca/mobile/
