The national flag at the high school in Wadena hung at half-mast last week to show solidarity with the students, staff and community of La Loche, Saskatchewan, where an educational assistant, a teacher and two teenagers were shot and killed, allegedly by a 17-year-old boy.
On the morning of Jan. 21, Wadena Elementary School students were treated to some curling tips from Susan Lang, a competition coach with CurlSask. The Grade 6 class at Wadena Elementary School went to work on the morning of June 24. Students were spotted at various businesses around town as they got a taste of what it’s like to work at different places.
On the June 20 weekend a 100th-anniversary picnic was held at Valley Plain School. At least 20 former students and their families, an estimated five or more generations, gathered for the very special celebration. Food, fun and good old-fashioned socializing were on the agenda.
