Wadena RCMP, EMS and local fire personnel responded to another fatal accident the evening of Oct. 11, 2021.
As reported today, the collision occurred on Hwy. 5. approximately 10 km west of Wadena where it was determined that a lone pedestrian was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and called for emergency assistance. The pedestrian, a seven-year-old female from the Wadena RCMP detachment area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her family has been notified.
The highway was closed for approximately five hours while Wadena RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Reconstruction completed initial investigation. They have also stated there will be no further information released at this time.
This is the second fatal accident to hit the Wadena area in two months; the first occurred east of Wadena on Sept. 9.
