Rustic Havens store now downtown

It was January 2016 when Rustic Havens opened its doors to the public at MDSI (Mallard Diversified Services Inc.). The new venture in home decor made from refinished wood has grown, causing the local organization to think bigger. Rustic Havens has switched places with the Wash ‘n’ Wear that was located on Main Street next door to the laundromat in Wadena.

Rustic Havens is now on Main Street in Wadena.

“Due to their popularity it was more appropriate to swap the two business premises around, giving Rustic Havens a storefront on Main Street while Wash and Wear can utilize the larger area left behind by Rustic Havens,” said MDSI executive officer Ryan Calder.

The Wash ‘n’ Wear shop has moved to MDSI.

The new Rustic Havens shop has taken another step by adding lines of giftware from Umbra, Secret Jewels, Chalk Outloud, Breakup Laughing, and Saskatchewan handmade items by Rogue Jewelry.

“Business has really picked up for Rustic Havens, with 50 per cent of customers coming from outside of Wadena,” said Jodelle Mierke, supervisor for Rustic Havens.

As the one responsible for most of the original design work, Mierke said the giftware Rustic Havens has become known for is still made by MDSI’s clients and remains at the forefront of the business.

The added giftware lines just make this little shop on Main Street a delightful source for unique gifts.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and is well worth a visit.
