Summer’s not the only time to play

The goldfish races were a big attraction, particularly for the children in attendance.

Margo held its second annual Winter Fun Days over the weekend of Feb. 28 – Mar. 2, with a variety of activities for everyone. It turned out to be too cold for snowplane rides but that didn’t stop people from coming out to the rink!

The 3-on-3 rec. hockey tournament was held on Friday and Saturday, with A- and B-side winners Invermay Imperials and Margo Brewers; the rink was open for free public skating after the tournament.

The wing night on Friday was well attended, and the steak night the next day was packed with people who appreciated the excellent food provided by the fine cooks of the community.

Silent auctions and 50/50 draws helped raise money toward the Margo Community Recreation Board, to help with upkeep of the rink. The goldfish races on Saturday, with eager bidding on the auctioned lanes and the final auction of the night, also helped raise funds.

Similar fundraisers recently helped pay for repairs to the roof and upgrades to the rink, including a new ice-cleaning machine.
