Team Reid’s first annual Hopping Towards Awareness fundraiser was held March 20 at the Wadena Elementary School.
The event offered face-painting, temporary tattoos, a petting zoo with rabbits, photos with the Easter Bunny, Easter crafts, basket and bunny-ear decorating, and balloon artwork pieces.
While the children were entertained, the adults were able to purchase items from the merchandise table and make donations to Autism Speaks Canada. There was also an Easter movie to watch and, of course, refreshments. Raffle draws were made as well, and Reid’s parents Maury Yablonski and Melissa Kereluik shared their story about the journey following his diagnosis of autism.
For closing ceremonies, everyone went to the front lawn where 1500 Easter eggs were scattered, containing puzzle pieces and sweet treats.
The fundraiser raised money for Autism Speaks Canada Walk Now for Autism.
