The former United Church on First Street NW in Wadena has been transformed into a community facility offering a variety of fitness classes, a fully functional gym, and three instructors in varying disciplines.
The main floor has become a bright, airy space for fitness classes while the basement has been refurbished as a gym with a variety of weight-training equipment. These include a Smith machine and leg press, both designed to accommodate those with knee injuries. To improve hockey skills and the all-important golf swing, a Vector fitness machine with multi-functional attributes is available. There is also an array of cardio equipment, from treadmills to elliptical, recumbent, and upright spin bikes.
The Wadena Fitness Centre is offering a five-day open house from Feb. 22-29, with a number of free classes. The gym will be open and free of charge from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on those days.
The Wadena Fitness Centre will be managed during regular hours and the gym will be accessible after-hours by key pass in the near future. For more information, call the town office.
