Wildcat Novice Panthers take Candy Cup

It was like a classic Stanley Cup final between traditional arch-rivals when the Wadena Wildcat Novice Panthers faced the Kelvington Wheat Kings in the final game of the Novice tournament held in Kelvington on Jan. 30.

It came down to the wire as Kelvington was up 3-2 when Wadena’s Kyler Wickstrom scored to tie the game with only 15.4 seconds left in the third period.

Brighton Nakrayko then made the game-winning goal with only 8.1 seconds left in the five-minute overtime period to win the Candy Cup.
