Kids’ clinic at the curling rink

On the morning of Jan. 21, Wadena Elementary School students were treated to some curling tips from Susan Lang, a competition coach with CurlSask. The purpose of the clinic, said Lang, is “to raise awareness of the game, people’s perception of the game, and to get people onto the ice.”

Grade 4 student Trinity Tokar practises a “slide with a frame” to get her balance right.

The next exercise combined the balance and slide exercises and added weight by using two rocks to strengthen muscles. The last exercise in the 45-minute lesson was sweeping and the correct way to hold a brush. Finally, students had to throw a rock, brush in hand.
