Last week the former Wadena Insurance building located on the west side of Wadena’s Main Street was demolished.
According to the history book and those who remember, in 1958 the building housed Tweidt Agencies and the Wadena Credit Union. The insurance business became Wadena Agencies when the Tweidts sold it to Larry and Carol Hahn. When the Hahns wanted to retire, they sold it to Mainline Insurance. Current Wadena Insurance owners bought the building in 2008, then moved to another location, leaving the building unoccupied. The Wadena Co-op purchased it as part of a plan to expand the hardware store (seen on the right) over three lots.
