Coming from Newfoundland and Labrador with a penchant for fishing, the newest member of the Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP Detachment has already proclaimed his love for Saskatchewan.
Const. Eddie Upshall rode into Wadena last Monday, his first day on the job after transferring from Big River First Nation (FN). He was introduced to the community by Cpl. Leo Martin, his detachment supervisor from Foam Lake.
Originally a welder, and a salesman for a Ford dealership, Const. Upshall eventually found his way to Alberta for work. After RCMP training he was posted south of Regina to Milestone, Sask., before Big River FN. He has been in the RCMP for five years.
“It’s just something that I’ve always wanted to do,” said Upshall in an interview with the News.
A lover of the outdoors, he has “no intention of leaving the province” as he and his family feel quite at home in Saskatchewan.
He is to live in Foam Lake with his wife Lesa and son Devon, who apparently is already a big hit at the local high school because of his love for playing football. No doubt we will see Eddie and Lesa on the sidelines this fall. Welcome to the area!
