The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #62 in Wadena took on its new executive for 2014.

Deputy zone commander Lois Steele was in town to install two officers at the Feb. 11 meeting.

Taking on the duties of president is Comrade Jack Bylsma. Bylsma will replace Comrade John Panio, who served as president for three consecutive terms.

Taking on the duties of vice-president is Comrade Bonnie Wallin, who will follow in her father’s footsteps. Comrade Bill Wallin will take over as service officer.

The other table officers are incumbents Comrade Claire Enright (secretary) and Comrade Pat Casement (treasurer).

A commendable number of legionnaires braved the cold for the installation ceremonies and were quick to volunteer for positions on the various committees that make the branch function.

The new president, Comrade Bylsma, shared his vision of increasing the fundraising focus for the Wadena Legion. He charged the branch members to put on their thinking caps and come up with suggestions for the next meeting.

As with all clubs, the Wadena branch is always looking for new members. If you are interested in helping out, contact any Legion member for more information.
