Candlestick phone makes appearance

Office staff was intrigued during the first days back from holidays when Peter Eskovich of Margo showed up with this interesting piece found in his house.

After a little research, a similar unit found for sale on the Internet was described as a 1915 Western Electric Union Pacific scissor extension caboose candlestick phone.

Peter’s phone had a desk mount versus a wall mount, and a headset attachment versus an earpiece.

The Western Electric brass plate could be seen on one side of the hinge.

We’re sure Peter would be open to offers from any railroad memorabilia buffs! The one on the Internet was listed for about US$80.
