À la the lady with the lamp

On May 15, one of the few lovely warm spring days this year, the Wadena Healthcare Auxiliary held its Florence Nightingale tea and bake sale at Pleasant View Care Home.

The bake tables were full with a wide variety of baking including breads, buns, cakes, pies, squares, loaves and cookies.

The baking did not take long to disappear. There were 73 people in attendance to enjoy the lunch and socializing with friends and neighbours.

The tables looked spring-like with cream-hued tablecloths, flowery centrepieces, colourful napkins and fancy cups and saucers. They were filled with plates of vibrant fruit, fluffy biscuits and bowls of assorted jams and jellies.

The auxiliary realized almost $1,000 at this event. The money will be used to purchase items for the care and comfort of the patients at Wadena Hospital and the residents of the care home.
